Job Summary

  • Obtains blood specimens (on or off site) following established procedures, established time frames, and safety requirements.   
  • Obtains specimens (on or off site) requiring special collection procedures following established procedures, established time frames, and safety requirements.
  • Receives and distributes specimens in the laboratory.    
  • Processes specimens for testing, storage and send out to reference laboratories.        
  • Provides assistance to clients.  Picks up and delivers specimens / reports to clients (may use company car) and acts as liaison between the client and the laboratory.
  • Assists with vehicle maintenance and promotes safe driving.         
  • Diagnostic electrocardiogram on outpatients and Therapeutic INR QC and testing procedures.
  • Performs testing procedures as indicated by section.  

Qualifications

Education

  • High school education or equivalent. 
  • Requires some knowledge of medical terminology.

Experience

  • 3 months phlebotomy experience, or a phlebotomy certificate with 32 hours of clinical rotation, or 6 months experience in a medical field providing patient care which includes drawing blood or blood processing, or current MLT student in clinical rotations, or one or more college level courses in a biological science

(Above requirements can be met by the equivalent combination of education and experience).

 

Licensure/Certification

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) training or re-training is required during orientation prior to providing patient care.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) is required to be maintained thru re-training for duration of employment.

Compensation/Benefits

  • $14.29-$23.24/hr depending on previous work experience
